I started BJJ with Jason in october 2005. I was uncomfortable going to a BJJ school and being "the new guy" so i decided to give a jason a call. He came to my house for a private lesson and i have been hooked ever since. It was Jason's laid back personality and his love for BJJ that made me want to start training. Definitely train with Jason if you want to get in shape, learn BJJ,and have a great time. I am happy to able to call Jason a great teacher and friend.

Working with Jason was a vital part in the development of my jiu jitsu. He taught me it wasn't enough to just know the moves but to have concrete set ups. Jason opens your eyes to the different aspects of the game and will try his best to bring progress to his students. He's a dedicated instructor and a good friend. Training with him will elevate any ones game.

When I began training with Jason, I had no prior grappling experience. I had never wrestled, never done Judo, and certainly never had prior experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jason is able to break techniques down into their natural parts, explaining how everything works in a manner that made it easy to learn. He teaches the principles behind the movements, so that they become a part of you, making it that much easier to learn the next move. Jason is very knowledgeable about the art of Grappling, and constantly looking for ways to improve both himself and his students.

Jason Scully is a very motivated individual with a high sense of respect for everyone he is around. His grappling classes are based on effective techniques and strategies needed to excel in the sport. The classes are very organized and well run, not to mention his attention to detail, which makes him a perfect instructor for beginners as well as advanced students.

Where do I begin? I have known Jason for about 7 years now. We met doing bjj at the rec center in Howell. Since then, we have become training partners, business partners and I am happy to say, very close friends. As a person, Jason is a stand up guy, who sticks to his beliefs and will not back down to anyone. As a teacher, Jason has taught me more then anyone(black belts included) about the sport of jiu jitsu. He has a passion for learning and teaching bjj that is unparalleled. He is very patient when it comes to teaching and is very knowledgable on the subject. I am sad to see him move to a different school but am also looking forward to training with him in the future.

I got this a couple of days ago and wanted to watch it a few times prior to giving a review.

Bibiano's nickname is "the flash" The guy does everything fast, wins matches, pulls off moves, and teaches fast. This set is not for the guy looking for super broken down teaching like the Saulo set. This set is for the more advanced player.

The set is broken down into five sections;

Takedowns Sweeps Submissions 1 Submissions 2 Passing the guard

The take down section is very abreviated it has three take downs, two standing and one from the sitting guard. They are all high percentage take downs which is a good thing, but this section was kind of short.

The sweeps section contains 14 sweeps, the break down is four from the de la riva guard, two from the sit up guard, four from the butterfly guard, two from the X-guard, two when your opponent is standing. There are some nice variations of sweeps that you have seen here and sweeps you have seen, but a nice selection of sweeps touching all areas.

The submission sections have a combined 23 techniques from flying triangles to the typical arm bar from guard. Once again Bibiano has something for everyone in this section from basic techniques to the more advanced set up.

The last section is the passing the guard section. There are 13 passes here and they cover all the typical guards. I liked this section because it gives variations on passes you have known but from his perspective and old favorites.

I liked this DVD I have two gripes, but one seems to be a constant. I didn't really care for the voice over guy and would like the option to hear it in portuguese as well as the voice over. The other was Bibiano is kind of quick in his demonstrations and you really have to pay attention and use the rewind button, but his nickname isn't the flash for nothing.

I would recommed this DVD for the advanced guy, or the guy who doesn't need his info super broken down. This is a great dvd, but if you are one of those people you will be complaining, because this DVD is simply not targeted for that type of person.

I would say the set is filled with all high percentage techniques and is perfect for the advanced guy looking for a variation on some techniques or looking to see how Bibiano executes some of the basic ones. The crazy part is these are the moves that Bibiano moves and it's amazing how smooth he is at executing the basics at such a high level. The set is filled with his game, but his game isn't super flashy, but done in a flash with perfection, he has variations of the basics which are here that add some good insight on how to approach them differently.

I liked this set a lot and the great production is there and everything is easy to see and understand and the price of this DVD makes it a steal for the number of techniques and the content on them. The thing this DVD reminds me of the most is that the basics can be executed at a high level and sometimes they need a slight variation, or you need to just keep working them till they work.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask, but I will say in advance I will not debate my review if you disagree with my review that's fine, but I hope you enjoyed the set as much as I have.
